The use of OpenAlex in medical libraries: experiences, analysis, and perspectives
Abstract
The article presents the possibilities of using the OpenAlex database in medical libraries, based on analysis of the literature. It outlines the data structure and key OpenAlex functions, including open access metadata, the public API and integration with analytical tools. Examples of applications in bibliometrics and institutional research evaluation, as well as in activities supporting open science, are discussed. The article also draws attention to data quality limitations and practical challenges of implementing OpenAlex in medical library practice.
