Atena – a new way of working with journal ranking lists
Abstract
A tool supporting the analysis of journals from the ministerial list, including selected bibliometric indicators from the Journal Citation Reports database, was designed, created, and implemented at the Scientific Information Department of the Main Library of the Medical University of Warsaw. It allows for identifying the indicators of specific journals and generating lists of titles within selected criteria. The product is widely used by the academic community of WUM and it significantly facilitates the work of publication authors as well as administrative employees using journal ranking lists in everyday work. The solution presented in the article proves that libraries do not have to rely on the already available, paid bibliometric tools offered by such providers as Elsevier or Clarivate – they can successfully implement their own solutions to suit the needs of the academic community.
